M’sian Actor Evan Siau, 36, Who Starred In Mediacorp Drama Break Free, Dies After 2 Year Battle With Cancer

His condition reportedly deteriorated after he celebrated his 36th birthday in January this year. Sadly, he passed away on March 19.

A number of celebs have taken to social media to mourn his passing, including Evan’s mentor and showbiz senior Douglas Wong.

“Silly boy, your life on this Earth stopped at a very beautiful time. Now, you are free of illness and pain, and can continue to be the handsome guy you are in another, better, world,” he wrote in a post on Facebook.

Douglas also shared some screenshots of his WhatsApp conversations with Evan, revealing that the actor often updated Douglas on his health, and generally appeared to be in high spirits.

Evan’s last post on social media was in December 2021. He returned to his hometown in Sabah in mid-2021 to recuperate and focus on battling cancer.

It was reported that the actor hoped to only see pictures of himself from his healthier days online. Therefore, most of the tributes to Evan only included older pictures of the actor.

Apart from Break Free, Evan starred in a number of productions, including I Am Not A Loser, as well as the play The Dawns Here Are Quiet, where he was nominated for Best Actor at the 13th Asli Drama Awards.
