Ethan Ruan Harassed By Man Who Rang His Doorbell At 6am For 3 Days Straight
The actor says the man showed up early in the morning daily, prompting him to record a confrontation.
Taiwanese actor Ethan Ruan has been repeatedly disturbed by a man who rang his doorbell in the wee hours of the morning for three straight days.
The 43-year-old star, who lives in Taipei’s Minsheng Community, shared that the man showed up between “6:15 and 6:30am, asking [him] to wake up”.
Pushed to his limits by the relentless early morning disruptions, Ethan eventually confronted the man and recorded the encounter on his phone.
Though Ethan could not be seen in the clip, he could be heard asking: “What do you want? Do you know who I am?”
He then told the man to “go ring someone else’s door”, only to be met with the reply: “I rang every house.”
When asked why, the simply man said he didn’t know.
The man has reportedly been lingering around the neighbourhood, where he has been accused of randomly ringing doorbells, and in some cases, entering homes uninvited and sitting inside using his phone, leaving residents shaken.
A clothing shop owner shared on Facebook that a man with a stocky build and glasses recently barged into their store, which is connected to a residence.
He reportedly walked straight into the living room and even tried to enter a bedroom, but was stopped as the door was locked. He then sat in the living room talking to himself.
Even after being chased out, he attempted to re-enter and lingered outside for quite some time before finally leaving.
The incident left the shop owner terrified, prompting them to file a police report.
CCTV footage showed the man in T-shirt and slippers, wandering through alleys while looking at his phone and occasionally talking to it, as if immersed in a mobile game voice chat, before suddenly entering other people’s homes.
Police later said the man’s unusual behaviour may be linked to a mental condition.
His family has since been notified and is expected to arrange for further care.
