HK Director Derek Tsang Says He Once Found Dad Eric Tsang’s Porn Magazines When He Was Younger
Eric had a very professional reason for owning those magazines, though.
Eric Tsang, 69, and his 42-year-old son Derek Tsang, recently appeared on TVB talk show A Decent Conversation.
The hosts of the show are actor Enoch Lam and politician Frederick Ma, who also happens to be Eric’s cousin.
When Enoch pointed out the resemblance between the cousins, the two immediately disagreed, with Frederick saying that the only similarity they share is that they both have the same number of facial features.
The episode marked Eric’s first time appearing on a talk show with his son.
“No one really got the chance to interview the both of us [together], and it’s not because we’re hard to interview. It’s tough for us to match our schedules, and Derek doesn’t like appearing in front of the camera, he prefers to be behind it,” said Eric.
As they spoke about each other, Derek revealed an “interest” of Eric’s.
He said that when he was younger, he and his younger brother would often look through their dad’s things when he wasn’t at home. While rummaging through Eric’s books and scripts, they once found his porn magazines.
According to Derek, he was seven or eight at that time and so was already exposed to, um, such things in school. Thus he was neither shocked nor intrigued by the discovery.
Instead, he and his brother were more surprised to find out that their dad was interested in such magazines.
Eric then calmly defended himself, saying: “We had to do research for work. When we shot such scenes, there were many things we didn't know.”
Ah, the research for work excuse.
