Eric Tsang’s wife Rebecca Chu passed away on Aug 3, reportedly after a long battle with cancer. Their son, Hongkong director Derek Tsang, confirmed the news on August 5 and asked for the public to “give [them] space so that [they] can complete her final journey quietly”.

Last week, Eric and his sons Derek and Mark were spotted at the Po Lin Monastery on Lantau Island, where Buddhist rituals were held for Rebecca’s funeral. Eric stopped to speak briefly to the media, where he echoed Derek’s earlier statement. “My wife is a very private person and we will respect her last wishes. We don’t want too many people gathering [at her funeral and wake, especially because] of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he revealed.
