The '90s pop idol finally returned to Hongkong this week.

HK Star Eric Suen, 49, Went To Shanghai For A Shoot In 2020, Ended Up Getting Stuck In China For 2 Years

Hongkong star Eric Suen, 49, has been living in Shanghai for the past two years and it would be normal to assume that like many other celebs, he moved to the Mainland to seek greener pastures.

However, in a recent IG post, Eric revealed that he was initially only in Shanghai to shoot an advertisement and that moving there was not part of his plans.

“Two years ago, I came to China to film a commercial. I didn’t think that I would end up staying there for more than two years. I’m thankful to all those who have helped with my ‘sudden migration’ to Shanghai over this period.”

If anyone is wondering why he was stuck in China for so long, Eric didn't go into detail, but we assume it was most likely due to the pandemic, travel restrictions and lockdowns

Eric revealed that while he had a very happy and fulfilling time in China, he really missed home.

“[I] miss my dog and cat! I miss my family! I miss my car! I miss my fans! I miss my cha chaan teng! I miss Hongkong!” wrote a clearly homesick Eric.

It didn’t take much to tell that Eric was really, really excited to be going home. He wrote “86 to 852” (which are China’s and Hongkong’s respective dialing codes) on his plane selfie and added that he “might cry when the plane touches down”.

Many of his fans were also elated to hear the news of his homecoming.

“Happy for you, I’m so touched” and “Finally, [you can] return home, that’s great” were just two of the many message he received from his fans.
