The fourth season of popular Chinese reality show, Sisters Who Make Waves, started airing early this month to much fanfare.

The show, which pits female celebs above the age of 30 against each other to form a girl group, sees stars such as S.H.E's Ella Chen, Taiwanese singers Yuki Hsu and A-Lin, and Chinese host Xie Na in its current lineup.

Recently, a list revealing how much some of the female celebs are getting paid to be on the show was posted online.

Many were surprised to find out that the highest-paid Taiwanese star in Sisters was not Yuki Hsu, 45. Yuki got her start in showbiz in 1998 and had a string of hit songs in the late '90s and early 2000s.

Instead, it is Ella Chen, 41. She reportedly makes 1.2mil yuan (S$230K) per episode, which is four times that of Yuki’s 300K yuan (S$57K) pay check.

Singer songwriter A-Lin, 39, is paid 600K yuan (S$115K) per ep.

However, Ella is not the highest paid star on the show.

Xie Na, 42, is said to make 1.8mil yuan (S$346K) each ep while Chinese actress Zhang Jia Ni, 35, takes home 1.3mil yuan (S$250K) per episode.

The list has gone viral, with many netizens expressing their shock at how much the stars are paid

One netizen wondered: “Is this the pay for one episode or one season? It’s no wonder so many actors choose to appear in reality shows instead. They get paid more for less work.”
