Ella Chen Reveals She Was Sexually Assaulted By A Neighbour When She Was 9

With the #MeToo movement sweeping Taiwan, many celebs have come forward with accounts of sexual assault and harassment.

At a beauty event yesterday (Jun 29), S.H.E’s Ella Chen, 42, revealed that she too had been violated when she was younger.

The incident happened at a neighbour’s home when she was around nine years old.

Recalling the incident, Ella said she was sitting on the lap of her dad’s friend's son while playing computer games.

“He suddenly put his hand down my underwear. When I felt something wasn’t right, I screamed and bolted out crying. There was no one outside and I didn’t know how to deal with the situation," she recounted.

Ella said the incident left her traumatised and was “forever be etched in [her] memory”.  

Ella did not dare speak about the matter until 2016 when she found out during a trip with her family that the boy had groped her two older sisters in the chest.

Thinking back, Ella said she still felt terrified. “It’s regretful that in those days parents did not know how to deal with such matters. At the time, we were only taught sex education in junior high school. I feel that there are many parts of the body that should not be touched at will, and [if you are uncomfortable] you should speak out immediately, this includes [her six-year-old son] Jin Bao. If he wants to touch me, he has to ask first."

Ella also faced sexual harassment after her showbiz debut with S.H.E. 

"Maybe he didn't mean it at that moment, but I felt uncomfortable,” said Ella, declining to elaborate on the matter or reveal if the perpetrator is a celebrity.

"I won't talk about it. If I can accept it now, then just let it be,” she added.

Following allegations of sexual harassment against Blackie Chen earlier this week, netizens unearthed a clip of of fellow S.H.E member Selina Jen being kissed on the lips by the former on a variety show in 2001. 

Selina, who was blindfolded during a kissing game, had to press the buzzer before Blackie's lips reached hers, but was too late.

She appeared aggrieved saying: “Why does it feel like [you were sticking out your] tongue," before bursting into tears.

When Ella was asked about her thoughts on the clip, she said: "I won't comment on this."
