Ever since singers Rainie Yang and Li Ronghao announced their engagement on social media yesterday (Jul 11), congratulatory messages have been pouring in from fans and fellow celebs alike.
Even from Rainie’s high school sweetheart Alien Huang
After sharing her own well-wishes for the couple at an event, Taiwanese singer-actress Ella Chen was inspired to reminisce about how her husband, Malaysian businessman Alvin Lai, popped the question eight years ago.
“He had prepared a little photo album that was filled with pictures of me doing all sorts of things, along with some captions, but he made so many mistakes writing them!” she laughed, giving an example about a Chinese character that looked like it had been flipped horizontally (cue Chinese teachers all around getting triggered).
It's okay, Alvin, writing Chinese words is tough.
Of course, that obviously did not stop her from saying yes. Today, the couple has been happily married for seven years and are proud parents to their adorable son Daniel, who was born in April 2017.
However, bringing their boy into the world was no easy feat for Ella, who suffered from urinary incontinence and bladder prolapse as the result of a difficult birth. She opened up about her condition in a Mother’s Day post on Facebook this year, sharing that even simple activities like jumping, running, or even sneezing would cause her to involuntarily wet her pants.
Mothers are warriors
Thankfully, this is no longer the case as the 38-year-old has undergone surgery to fix the situation. That said, we’re not surprised if her experience may have scared her off from having another baby, although she’s not adamant on letting Daniel remain the only child forever either.
“We’re not planning to have a second child, but if it’s God’s will to give us another present, then I will happily accept it as well,” she smiled.
Let’s hope her second pregnancy will be a smooth-sailing one.
