Eason Chan’s Daughter Unfazed By Critics Saying She Won Best Newcomer Award Because Of Her Dad

Having famous parents can open many doors, but it can also be a double-edged sword.

Especially when your dad is a familiar face like, say, Hong Kong singer Eason Chan.

But the spotlight shone exceptionally hard on Constance Chan, 21, after she clinched the Ultimate Female Newcomer (Gold) award at the recent Ultimate Song Chart Awards Presentation in Hong Kong.

Quite a feat for someone who released her debut single, ‘Doll’ about six months ago, though the “nepo baby” whispers predictably followed.

Of course, critics were naturally quick to question if Constance’s win had less to do with her music and more to do with Eason.

Her famous dad holds the record for winning the Best Male Singer Gold award a whopping 10 times.

Some also acidly accused her of using a backing track when she performed her single ‘Stop Calling’ during the awards.

Speaking at a press conference to promote her upcoming concert with MC Cheung, and Gareth.T, she admitted that the criticism did make her feel a little unhappy but said she is not worried that her own efforts will be overshadowed or erased by her father’s fame.

“These kinds of reports are normal and hard to avoid because he is my father. I will continue to work,” Constance said.

When asked if the backlash was discouraging, she replied: “Sometimes seeing them makes me unhappy, but it also motivates me to perform better. It's a good encouragement.”

In fact, Constance appears refreshingly comfortable with Eason being her dad, and during her acceptance speech, thanked her team and specifically mentioned her thanks to “Eason.”

She immediately clarified, hilariously, “Not my dad.”

Wait, is there another Eason in Constance’s life?

She even bantered comfortably with reporters backstage after her win, when they probed why Eason wasn’t there with her.

“He will only come if he won the Best Male Singer award,” she playfully replied.

Another asked if she would display her award next to Eason, she laughed and said, “He doesn’t have a chance to win the Best Newcomer award anymore”.

Constance released her English single Doll’ in 2025 and made her surprise debut as the opening act at Warner Music’s family concert WM! GO! in Macau in August the same year.
