“Faye Wong Is So Rich, Why Doesn't She Help Him?” New Pic Of Singer’s Ex-Husband Dou Wei Has Netizens Wondering About His Financial Situation

Before Faye Wong dated Nicholas Tse in 2000, she was married to Dou Wei, the lead singer of Chinese rock band Black Panther.

The couple split in 1999 after three years. Their daughter Leah is now 25 and a singer.

Dou Wei, who has been living in relative obscurity for a number of years, was recently spotted dining alone at a Beijing eatery.

The 53-year-old was described as “sloppy” and looked to have aged considerably.

A netizen said the rocker tucked into a 3 yuan (S$0.60) bowl of noodles, and left minutes later when he was done with his meal.

After the snap of Dou Wei made its rounds online, netizens lamented that the rocker's life has been on a downward spiral since his split with Faye.

Many questioned why Faye, who has a reported net worth of HK$2bil (S$340mil), did not help her ex-husband out. Others felt divorced couples should have a clean break.

"First of all, how do you know that Faye Wong didn't help him? Second, Dou Wei just doesn't need material things, it doesn't mean he has no money. Thirdly, Faye Wong has no obligation to help Dou Wei,” wrote one netizen.

There were also fans who noted that Dou Wei is doing well and “not pitiful at all”.

There were comments like "He is also very rich. His courtyard house is not for nothing" and "He just doesn’t have hair, not money".

Although Dou Wei has faded out of the limelight, he is still making music.

He composed several tracks for 2019 movie Dwelling In The Fuchun Mountains, which was nominated for Best Music at the Golden Rooster Awards.
