Here's How Fans Of Chinese Actor Ding Yuxi Made Money After Ne Zha 2 Became China’s Highest-Grossing Movie Of All Time

To say Chinese animated fantasy film, Ne Zha 2, is a massive success would be a huge understatement.

Released on January 29, the movie shattered records, earning 8.4bil yuan (S$1.5bil) at box office and becoming China’s highest-grossing movie of all time.

Ne Zha 2 is also now one of the Top 30 highest-grossing movies in the world and is the only non-Hollywood film in the list.

Needless to say, the five production companies that came together to produce the movie also saw a rise in their stock prices and income. 

One of the companies, Beijing Enlight Media, saw its investors benefiting from their success for one very unexpected reason. 

Shanghai-born actor Ding Yuxi, 29, is best known for his roles in romance dramas, including The Romance of Tiger and Rose (2020), and Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (2024). Thanks to his good looks, Yuxi, who is managed by Beijing Enlight Media, has amassed a strong fan following. 

In order to show their support for their idol, Yuxi’s fans purchased Beijing Enlight Media stocks. With the success of Ne Zha 2, these fans made themselves a pretty profit.

The company’s shares rose by a whopping 139.03 per cent just six days after Ne Zha 2 premiered. The company’s market value reportedly stands at 55bil yuan (S$10bil). 

These lucky fans have taken to social media to share their joy, with some saying they only bought the stocks to support Yuxi. They did not anticipate getting any sort of reward for chasing their favourite star. 

Others were tickled by how things turned out, with one netizen writing: “I’m envious, Ding Yuxi is really a no-risk investment.”

One fan shared: “I didn’t buy much. I only own one thousand shares that are worth around 10k yuan (S$1.8k). It was simply for fun! Those who don’t understand how stocks work shouldn’t play, just focus on supporting your idol.”
