Taiwanese actress Dee Hsu has recently stood up for her good friend, fellow actress Patty Hou, after the latter was accused by netizens of using her son’s medical condition to gain attention.

Patty welcomed her second son, Ethan, this September but revealed that she was heartbroken after discovering that he was diagnosed with ABO incompatibility. This sickness arises when the mother's and baby's blood are incompatible, which could cause the fetus to develop anemia.

Her recent return back to work has unexpectedly led to criticisms by netizens, who scolded her for “neglecting Ethan while he was sick,” and “using him for attention.”

Dee then posted a video of herself responding to these hate comments towards Patty. In the video, she expressed that Patty was in fact, a very caring mother who placed her children first. However, she was still a working mother after all and needed to do her job, which sometimes also meant making appearances at public events. The actress then shared that some events attended were for charity, which were meant to help others in need.

“I will be straightforward with my thoughts as I feel that everyone should be smarter with their questions, and not make such stupid remarks,” Dee lashed out.

Upon hearing Dee’s support, Patty could not help but tear up and said that “no parent would use their child for their own personal benefit.” She also urged the public not to over think and said, “part of my job is to appear happy on camera.”

Patty tied the knot with bank manager Kenneth “Ken” Huang in 2011 and gave birth to their son, 3-year-old Ian in September 2014.
