’70s Screen Idol David Chiang, 74, Celebrates Wife Maggie Li’s 72nd Birthday, Prove There’s True Love In Showbiz

Elaine is married to TVB actor Raymond Cho, 57.

Like his parents, John Jr (in case you're wondering, David's birth name is John) is an actor and he got his start in showbiz after participating in ViuTV's 2019 reality show King Maker II.

The couple first got to know each other in 1970 at a mutual friend’s wedding, where apparently, it was “love at first sight” for David.

When they eventually tied the knot four years later, it was a simple affair. The couple just headed for the registry to register their marriage, and didn’t even take any wedding photos.

In 1999, the couple had a do-over where they renewed their vows to each other in a ceremony.

Recently, the couple made an appearance together at a gathering with their friends like actress Meg Lam to celebrate Maggie and veteran producer Poon Ka Tak’s birthday.

In the pictures posted online, David and Maggie didn't shy away from showing some PDA for the cameras, with David hugging Maggie from the side and planting a kiss on her cheek in one photo.

The couple’s marriage has remained strong throughout their many years together.

Maggie remained active as an actress in the ‘70s and ‘80s, before taking a step back from the spotlight in the ‘90s when the family moved to Vancouver, Canada.

After their move, David would return to Hongkong regularly for work with Maggie accompanying him occasionally.

However, her focus was on her family and so she cut back on her acting commitments. The family returned to Hongkong in 2007.

Then, in 2011, Maggie was diagnosed with colorectal cancer.

According to reports, when Maggie was diagnosed, the cancer cells had already spread to her lymph nodes, and she needed chemotherapy to curb the spread.

It was then that David stepped up to the plate, putting his career on hold so that he could focus on caring for his wife. Fortunately, Maggie managed to pull through, and was given a clean bill of health in 2017.
