Daniel Wu Reveals Why He Gave Up His Career In China To “Suffer” In Hollywood

Like what Madonna once sang, “Everybody goes to Hollywood” and doing just that probably cost Hongkong actor Daniel Wu, 45, millions.

Since the late '90s, Daniel has been one of Asia's most popular and bankable actors, having starred in hit movies like Gen X Cops, New Police Story and Shinjuku Incident. While it's the trend now for many of Hongkong's biggest stars to head to China to further their career and to, ahem, pad up their bank account, Daniel, however, decided to move with his 42-year-old wife, Lisa S, and their seven-year-old daughter, Raven, back to California, where he grew up in, to forge his way in Hollywood. In doing so, he gave up opportunities not just in Hongkong but in the lucrative Chinese market. In fact, industry observers estimated that he could have easily earned millions if he had just headed north instead of west.
