Cyndi Wang, Who’s Been Plagued By Plastic Surgery Rumours For Years, Suffered From Skin Disease That Caused Her Face To Change
So maybe stop calling her plastic?
'90s Taiwanese sweetheart Cyndi Wang is enjoying a fresh boost of popularity thanks to Chinese reality competition Sisters Who Make Waves 3.
While the show has successfully rekindled everyone's love for the 39-year-old, there's still one topic about Cyndi that's been bugging people for a long time: How much her face has changed over the years.
In fact, before Sisters made her relevant again, Cyndi only made the news because of those plastic surgery rumours.
Turns out, the singer actually suffered from a skin disease called cellulitis, which resulted in her facial changes.
Cellulitis is a bacterial skin infection that leads to discolouration and swelling of the skin, and is typically painful and warm to touch. If untreated, the disease can spread to other parts of the body and cause serious health problems.
According to reports, Cyndi was so exhausted from filming Taiwanese drama Love Keeps Going in 2011 that her immune system became greatly weakened.
She also started to have mouth ulcers, which she brushed aside initially because she thought she was just too "heaty" from all those overnight shoots.
Cyndi only realised how severe her condition was when the right side of her face from her chin to the space between her eyebrows started to swell.
She then went to see a doctor and was diagnosed with the condition.
