Fans Shout “Refund” After Waiting 6 Hours For Cyndi Wang Who Sang Just 4 Songs At Music Fest
Nothing scarier than an angry mob of fans.
It seems Taiwanese popstar Cyndi Wang’s triumphant comeback may have just hit a wall after angry fans at the Moon City IMHAO music festival in Jiangxi on Saturday (Nov 2) demanded refunds.
The 42-year-old was one of the headliners, with tickets reportedly snapped up after Cyndi was announced to perform.
It all started when an unofficial list was shared online, listing out 10 whopping songs Cyndi was going to perform at the festival. In the end, she only performed four.
Is this where we go, “Fake news!”?
Videos of ticked off fans shouting "refund" after the gig have flooded the Internet. Some of these fans also reportedly waited about six hours before Cyndi took to the stage.
Fans also pointed out that Cyndi’s set was also marred by poor videography. It seems the cameraman only captured footage of the singer’s dancers and the audience in the first two songs.
It was only rectified in the third song.
However, some empathetic festivalgoers felt Cyndi was being unfairly maligned and pushed the blame to the organisers who mishandled the situation.
In a bid to soothe the tension, Cyndi’s team came out to address the situation on Sunday (Nov 3), releasing a statement from the performer herself.
They said that Cyndi "always performs the number of songs stipulated in her contract” and is looking to take legal action against those who forwarded the alleged 10-song setlist.
The music festival soon released its own statement, apologising to the public for the substandard videography and fake messages being sent out.
Is it just us or did the organisers try to pull a fast one here?
