It's all about the percentage, okay?

With their newfound popularity thanks to Chinese competition Sisters Who Make Waves 3, fans were really expecting to see a lot more of Taiwanese sweetheart Cyndi Wang, 40, and Cantopop duo Gillian Chung, 41, and Charlene Choi, 39, in upcoming Chinese reality shows.

In fact, Cyndi, Gillian and Charlene are currently starring in a new variety show, Promise For You, a spin-off of Sisters Who Makes Waves 3, along with fellow Sisters Chinese actresses Huang Xiaolei and Wu Jinyan.

But it looks like new Chinese broadcasting restrictions are here to rain on their parade.

Riding on the hype of the Sisters Who Makes Waves 3, Promise For You immediately took off after the first episode, garnering over 320 million views in less than a month.

However, the show was unexpectedly halted before its second episode.

Initially, it was speculated that the show was being held back after Chinese singer Tiger Hu, who was a guest on the show, was rumoured to be involved in Chinese actor Evan Li's recent prostitution scandal.

However, Charlene and Gillian later clarified in an interview that the delay had nothing to do with Tiger.

"[It's] An editing problem and the show will resume very soon," said the stars.

And now, fans are speculating that it's the new Chinese TV guidelines that have something to do with the show's delayed broadcast.

Cyndi was previously said to have reunited with former Smiling Pasta co-star Nicholas Teo on Promise For You

It's said that under the new rules, Chinese stars have to make up at least 50 per cent of Chinese reality shows.

Considering that of the five cast members, Cyndi is from Taiwan and Charlene and Gillian from Hong Kong, the show clearly does not adhere to the regulation.

Furthermore, the guest stars on the show, Taiwanese actors Jiro Wang and Kenji Wu, as well as Malaysian singer Nicholas Teo are all considered as foreign artistes as well.

As a result, the production team reportedly invited two Chinese guests stars to be on the show, and are now in the midst of trimming scenes of Cyndi, Charlene and Gillian in order to fulfil broadcasting requirements

After the word got out, fans have openly expressed their displeasure, with one saying: "[We're] Here to watch Cyndi and Twins, how can they cut their scenes."
