Clip Of Man Resembling HK Star Chin Ka Lok Engaged In Public Brawl Goes Viral

A clip of two men engaging in a brawl on the streets of Cheung Chau, Hong Kong, recently viral, and for one amusing reason.

The clip was posted with the title: “Hong Kong star Chin Ka Lok fights local in Cheung Chau”. Though misleading, it garnered plenty of views from netizens who tuned in just to find out if the man in question is really the actor.

Chin Ka Lok, 57, is an action star and choreographer, and the younger brother of Mr Vampire star Chin Siu Ho. In the early days of his career, Ka Lok was also member of Sammo Hung’s stunt team.

Which would make it seem all the more absurd if the “red hoodie” man in the clip was really him… since the guy could barely fight to save his life.

The fight between the two men seemingly started because the guy in the red hoodie was standing in the spot where the guy in grey wanted to “park” his trolley. After a heated exchange, both men started throwing fists at each other.

While the man in grey punched and kicked the Ka Lok-lookalike, the latter could be seen using his arms to protect his face, while attempting to get a few jabs in too.

By then, many passers-by and other locals had gathered to watch the fight, but no one dared to interfere. Most, however, didn’t stay to watch the fight to the end, as it went on for, well, almost four minutes.

Perhaps the funniest part of the whole clip was when a man who was pushing a baby stroller stood close to the brawl. The man held on to his stroller while he stayed on the catch the first minute of action.

Although some people noticed the similarities between the guy in red and Ka Lok, they reasoned that such behaviour didn’t match up to the actor’s nice guy reputation. Also, the way he fought was unbecoming of an wushu expert.

“If Ka Lok really fought this guy, he wouldn’t be alive anymore,” wrote one netizen.

“Look at his stance and the way he throws his punches, he doesn’t know how to fight at all!”, wrote another. 

Ka Lok’s manager, Helen, has since spoken up about the viral video, saying: “Ka Lok is currently very busy so he’s hard to contact. But once [you] watch the clip, [you] will know that it is not Ka Lok at all, so there’s no need [for him] to address this! Everyone knows that Ka Lok is gentle and is an action choreographer with very high EQ. Why would he get into a disagreement and fight with others!”
