Christopher Lee Bought His Son Zed An $800 Robot Cat To Prepare Him For Pet Ownership

And that robot cat is probably the reason Zed never got a real cat in the end.

Having a pet is a lifetime responsibility, and parents definitely should make sure their children are able to commit to taking care of it.

We're glad that was exactly what Christopher Lee did with his now 10-year-old son Zed.

In a recent interview, the 53-year-old, who has been busy promoting his new Taiwanese drama Q18 Quantum Dice: Allegory of the Quantum, shared that while he really dotes on his son, he's not someone who would buy him anything he wants.

The most expensive thing he's gotten for Zed? A S$800 robot cat.

According to Chris, Zed really loves nature and animals, and once told the actor he wanted a pet cat.

Chris did not think it was a good idea, and instead got Zed a robotic one so that the boy could learn how to take care of a pet first.

The robot cat was so lifelike that it could interact with its owner, and even knows how to recharge its own battery.

While that sounded like a good idea to foster a kid's responsibility, it was also how Chris concluded that Zed was not ready to have a pet just yet.

After almost three years, Chris noticed the robot cat has only been lying next to its charging port the entire time.

"So I asked my son: 'Did you even take good care of it?'" sighed Chris.

"The robot cat was a failure, and I never bought such things again," he added.

Well... at least it wasn't a real cat, right?
