Fans first began to speculate the 26-year-old Miss Earth 2022 titleholder hails from a wealthy background when she paired a Van Cleef & Arpels Vintage Alhambra necklace worth S$19K with that yellow dress in her grand entrance on the Netflix reality dating show. In ep four, she was also seen wearing bling from Cartier.

Fans have also come across her old photos showing Hermès and Louis Vuitton boxes tucked under a Christmas tree. Others noticed Mina Sue carrying a Hermès Mini Kelly — one of the hardest-to-get handbags in the world — in a 2024 video from her appearance at the opening of a high-end gold jewellery store in Shanghai.

Jewellery and handbag choices aside, Mina Sue did reveal on Single’s Inferno that she is not a huge fan of fancy and extravagant dates. 

Netizens were convinced she comes from serious money, some have gone as far as calling it “chaebol-level” wealth, a term reserved for South Korea’s ultra-rich, multi-generational business dynasties.

One showed a selfie with her grandma, with the former wearing a Hermes scarf worth S$1,271.

In another picture she took in a lift with her mum, the two women were decked out in Chanel —Mina Sue's mum wore a quilt cashmere, while she was carrying the brand's flap bag.

Born in Sydney, Mina Sue spent her formative years moving between South Korea, Canada, China, and the United States. 

Mina Sue’s "rich girl" vibes  intensified when it was revealed that she is an alumna of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she studied Communication.

In South Korea, sending a child to a prestigious American university is often seen as the ultimate "wealth flex" for the elite.

Some fans have even alleged that her cameo appearance in the K-drama DNA Lover (2024) may have been aided by family connections.
