Chinese Tourist Says He’ll Never Visit KL Again After Getting Caught In Heavy Downpour During Recent Trip
Did he not read the weather forecast?
Most people can probably agree that the weather plays a huge part when it comes to enjoying a vacation. However, would you completely swear off visiting a place again because of its climate?
A Chinese tourist, known as Xiao Hui Hui on Xiao Hong Shu, recently went on holiday in Kuala Lumpur, where he had a less-than ideal experience during the city’s rainy season.
Detailing his visit in a post titled “Never visiting KL again! It’s too distressing”, he wrote: “The rain in KL is so sporadic. It really comes and goes with no warning.”
He also posted a short clip of himself and a companion laughing in defeat and panting as they ran along the pavement near Merdeka Square in the rain.
He shared that they had plans to visit the historical landmark, but were met with a sudden downpour that did not ease up even as they tried to wait it out.
“We tried to book a ride, but the [cars] were unable to enter Merdeka Square, so we had to cancel several bookings. We had no other choice but to make a run for it in the rain while squealing like a couple of pigs. It was really tough,” he recounted.
However, that was not the only trial Xiao Hui Hui and his companion faced during the trip. The series of unfortunate events started early on, when he almost missed his flight to KL due to an issue with his air ticket.
He also complained about the "poor service" in the apartment he stayed in.
To top it all off, he had gotten on a coach to travel from KL to Malacca, but claimed that the driver suddenly requested that they switch buses, and said that he would help to transfer all their luggage.
Upon reaching his destination, Xiao Hui Hui realised the bus driver had left his luggage behind in the previous vehicle. He had to delay his plans of travelling from Malacca to Singapore that night, and forgo his original ticket for that journey as he waited for the coach to arrive with his belongings.
While a handful of netizens felt bad for Xiao Hui Hui, saying that he was “simply unlucky” to have encountered so many problems, some Malaysians weren’t as sympathetic about his situation.
They felt like he should have done research about the weather in KL prior to his trip, and that he should instead “consider going to a place with no rainfall”.
“The rainy season in KL falls in the months of April and May. You should always have an umbrella with you when you visit a tropical country as it’s very normal for the weather to be unpredictable,” explained another netizen.
