So rude!

Chinese celebrity couple Deng Chao and Sun Li have found themselves at the centre of online discussions after their photos were used as gender markers for a public toilet in China.

Images circulating online show portraits of the couple, who have been married for 15 years, displayed at the entrances on opposite ends of a non-descript toilet.

There were no "male" or "female" labels, just their photos to indicate the respective restrooms.

While there was no mention of where the toilet was located, a Jiangxi report said it is next to a factory and the photos were only added a few days ago.

The news quickly trended on social media, drawing widespread discussion.

While some netizens found it amusing, many called the move “disrespectful” and an infringement of the couple’s portrait rights.

“Who in their right mind uses celebrity photos as restroom signs? That’s just rude!" remarked one netizen, while another wrote: “Why not just write ‘Men’ and ‘Women’? Was that too difficult?"

A third asked: “How would you feel if your face was pasted on a toilet door?"

Some speculated that this was probably a stunt to attract attention.

Not cool at all.
