Chinese actress Zhao Lusi’s popularity skyrocketed after starring in 2021 historical drama The Long Ballad. But has she let it all get to her head?

Recently, a paparazzo posted a video accusing the 24-year-old of behaving like a big shot on set.

The paparazzo claimed that Lusi, who is currently filming historical drama Shen Yin (), treated her assistant “like a maid” and expected to be waited on hand and foot.

Her assistant even had to put on her socks for her, said the paparazzo.

In the clip, Lusi, who was dressed in period costume, can be seen sitting on a chair while the assistant removed her boots for her while kneeling.

Shortly after, the assistant helps Lusi put on socks and then her shoes.

Netizens were not impressed

These claims of Lusi’s diva behaviour has sparked heated discussions online.

Many criticised the actress for treating her assistant like a maid, playing with her mobile phone and dog while her assistant attended to her.

They also noted that she did not seem the least bit embarrassed for making her assistant wait on her.

There were comments like "Is she a big baby?", "Does she not have hands?" and "Even passsers-by would be put off by her [behaviour]".

There were also netizens who came to Lusi’s defense, saying that period costumes are usually very tight and restrictive, so it is normal for actresses to have help with dressing and undressing.

Furthermore, this was the job of an assistant.

“Assistants are supposed to help celebrities with their lives. It is usually inconvenient for celebrities to put on clothes or carry things themselves. The job of these assistants is to help celebrities carry their bags, shade them with an umbrella, and wait on them, this is the same as serving food to customers in a restaurant. It should not be described as ‘putting on airs’. When you go shopping, the staff will also help you with your clothes. Do you feel like you are a big shot?" said one netizen.

Others also pointed out that Lusi appeared to be very friendly with all the crew and urged the paparazzo to stop spreading malicious rumours.
