Most of us would've seen our fair share of shattered glass doors and windows caused by heavy impact or changes in temperature. Sometimes, it happens without reason, and without warning at all.

Whether we’ve seen this happen in front of us, or through recounts on social media, one thing’s for sure — the aftermath of these freak incidents is not something one ever wants to deal with.

In the case of Chinese actress Zhang Zhaoyi, 27, the accident occurred when one panel of her bathroom glass door suddenly shattered, injuring her husband and one-year-old daughter.

The aftermath of Zhaoyi's shattered bathroom door

Zhaoyi started her acting career as a child actress at age nine, and though she has since taken a step back from showbiz, she often updates her social media to keep fans in the loop.

Zhaoyi recounted the freak incident on her Weibo page on Nov 2, one day after the incident.

Posting pictures of her injured husband and child, the latter’s shirt stained with blood, the Hebei native wrote: “I can’t believe [we have to] go to the hospital on the first day lockdowns are lifted.”

According to her Weibo page, Zhaoyi currently resides in Zhengzhou. The city's lockdown restrictions were partially lifted on Nov 1 due to pressure from its residents and arrival of state media.

Along with the pics of her injured family was also a shot of her bathroom, where glass shards could be seen littering the entire place.

The poor child was injured and crying after the incident

The door which shattered was meant to separate the shower area from the dry area, and Zhaoyi remarked that she never expected it to “explode” the day before.

“These are safety hazards! You You’s (her child) head is covered in blood,” wrote Zhaoyi, understandably traumatized by the situation.

The most heartbreaking part of the accident is probably the fact that Zhaoyi’s daughter could be seen crying while blood trickled from her forehead onto her cheeks in the pic she posted.

Zhaoyi's husband receiving treatment for his cuts

Zhaoyi’s husband was also seen with a streak of blood on his hand and was receiving treatment on his head from a doctor.

“You You has an injury on the top of her head, [my husband] also suffered cuts on his face. [All the injuries] were cuts, [I was] frightened,” wrote Zhaoyi.

She also added that she “will not be installing any more similar-type glass doors” in future, and although her family is now on the mend, she is still shaken from the incident.

Zhaoyi ended her post by urging everyone who has similar glass doors to be doubly cautious.
