This is why you should not believe everything you see on the Internet.

Recently, a video of Chinese actress Esther Yu has sparked controversy after the 29-year-old was seen splashing water at a director.

The star, who studied fashion management at Singapore's Lasalle College of the Arts, was in Thailand to wrap up filming for her upcoming drama Star Trails.

At the drama’s wrap party, Esther was caught on camera playfully pouring a bottle of water on the director's head.

Unfortunately, the clip was taken wildly out of context by netizens who accused her of “bullying” the director.

The online criticism got so out of hand that the director had to personally explain the situation on Weibo.

"The water is clean, everyone please don't worry. Wealth rolls in with water, we wish our drama will be a hit!" he clarified, reassuring fans that there was no malice behind Esther’s actions.

It's also said that Esther was simply following the tradition of Songkran, Thailand's water-splashing festival, by pouring water on the director.

So now you know the truth.

Why else would the director just stand there and allow her to pour water on him right?
