Chin Ka Lok Dashed Under Train To Retrieve His Phone & Totally Wowed HK Actress Who Later Became His Wife
The action choreographer has been trained. Kids, do not try this at home.
There are many ways to wow a girl, but Chin Ka Lok pulled off a move worthy of an action film scene.
Recently, the 61-year-old Hong Kong actor-action choreographer and his wife, Hong Kong actress Angela Tong, reminisced how he'd won her heart back in the day.
The couple got married in 2012 and now have two daughters — Alyssa, 13, and Kassidy, 11.
They recalled filming for TVB period drama Gods of Honour in 2001 when the two were coincidentally left behind by the crew, who had already travelled to Foshan, China, for filming.
"It's fate," Ka Lok beamed.
They were alone at Hung Hom railway station rushing to board the train to Foshan.
"He had a flip phone hanging from a lanyard around his neck. We were running with our luggage, the phone was dangling, and it flew right under the train," she recalled.
While most people would have assumed the phone was a goner. But what Ka Lok, a trained martial artist, did next impressed Angela.
"He said: 'Hold the [luggage]', ran and just went under the train to retrieve his phone. He just came back up like that and, in that moment, I thought he was so cool," Angela said.
Ka Lok, however, clarified that he did make sure the train was stationary before attempting the dangerous feat.
"I saw a staff member and asked: 'The train doesn't move, right?' And they said: 'Yes, it shouldn't move'. That's why I climbed under it," he emphasised.
The actor, who was only in his 30s back then, said he had to climb underneath the train from the back, "like Spider-Man", just to get his phone back.
Angela's reaction? "Yes, just like Spider-Man. So cool!" she chirped.
Sure, it sounds cool, but he was trained for this. So kids, please do not try this.
