Charmaine Sheh, Tavia Yeung Rumoured To Star In New TVB Drama To Boost Ratings For The Broadcaster

A lot of has been said about TVB's plummeting ratings in recent years. And it may have something to do with what has been described as a mass exodus of its stars.

But now rumour has it that the broadcaster is bringing back its big guns to boost ratings.

And who, may you ask? Former TVB A-listers Charmaine Sheh, 47, and Tavia Yeung, 43, that's who.

Charmaine in a TVB drama again? Yes, please!

It's safe to say that Charmaine is a ratings guarantee.

Two of her past dramas, Story of Yanxi Palace and Can’t Buy Me Love, were among the Top 10 TVB dramas with the highest ratings in the past 12 years

And when Charmaine shot a video about her TVB days for a Chinese media in July this year, many fans expressed that their hope for the actress to appear in a Hong Kong production again.

Charmaine and Tavia in Beyond the Realm of Conscience

Let's also not forget how great it was to see Charmaine and Tavia battling it out onscreen in hit 2009 TVB palace drama Beyond the Realm of Conscience?

It's no wonder fans are so psyched to see the two act opposite each other again.

So where did this rumour come from in the first place?

Well, it all started when IG account @stephen._.chow (no, not the comedy legend) took to social media to share the news.

"Now that Do Jie (Carol Cheng) has left, TVB is inviting Charmaine Sheh and Tavia Yeung back to star in new drama Xin Wen Nu Lang (News Ladies). I heard about it three minutes ago. Rumour has it that they're almost done with discussions already. This is all the insider information I have, believe it or not it's up to you."

In response to the speculation, director Zhong Shu Jia said: "There is such a script in the making, and just to clarify the title is Xin Wen Nu Wang (News Queen). I'll be writing the script and directing it. The cast is not confirmed yet, anything is possible. Just like Charmaine said in a previous interview, "If there's a good script, there are all sorts of possibilities"."

Meanwhile, Tavia has also responded to the rumours, saying: "Actually I don't know anything, I've been in contact with some [people] but nothing is confirmed yet, just like Jia Ge said, anything is possible. I'm focusing on taking care of my children [her daughter, Hera, two, and her one-year-old son] first, but if there are good scripts, I'd love to take them on too."

So good news, we hope?
