“What I Lack is a Toothbrush, Not a Husband”: Cecilia Cheung on Rumours She Reconciled With Ex Hubby Nicholas Tse
Netizens pieced together “evidence” of a reunion, but both stars quickly shut it down.
Despite going their separate ways more than a decade ago, former couple Nicholas Tse and Cecilia Cheung, both 45, have once again been swept up in reconciliation rumours.
The Hong Kong stars, who split in 2011 after five years of marriage, share two sons, Lucas, 18, and Quintus, 15.
Earlier this month, internet sleuths sparked speculation after uncovering what they believe is “evidence” of a reunion.
They compiled photos and videos from late 2025 to early 2026, pointing to “overlapping” details, from allegedly wearing the same camouflage jacket (he wore it skiing, she at the airport) to owning identical limited-edition designer toys.
There were also claims that they stayed in the same hotel suite while working in Shanghai, with some even comparing balcony shots and noting strikingly similar backgrounds and poses.
But before anyone gets too excited, Nicholas has already shut down the rumours.
Speaking during a recent appearance at the University of Hong Kong, he shrugged off the chatter, saying such rumours “come up every now and then,” and made it clear their relationship “can’t go back to the past.”
In fact, when asked about love, he subtly pointed to where his heart lies, by showing off a bracelet he has worn for years, widely seen as a symbol of his relationship with Chinese pop diva Faye Wong.
Nic and Faye first got together in 2000 before splitting in 2002. They reconciled in 2014 after Nic and Ceci’s divorce, and following Faye’s split from Li Yapeng in 2013.
Ceci, on the other hand, didn’t mince her words. Addressing the rumours during a livestream, she rolled her eyes and quipped: “What I lack is a toothbrush, not a husband.”
So while fans may enjoy connecting the dots, it seems this so-called “reunion of the century” exists only in imagination.
