Cat Trapped On 15th Storey Ledge Saved By ‘Cat Firefighters’ In China
The kitty has since been adopted by the person who called for its rescue.
A heartwarming clip of a cat rescue mission in China’s Sichuan province has gone viral on Chinese social media.
The cat is seen perched precariously on the narrow ledge of a high-rise building. A woman who lives there chanced upon the cat and found it odd that it was stuck on the 15th storey.
She called in the professionals — a group of ‘cat firefighters’ based in both Chengdu and Chongqing. Yes, that’s what they’re actually known as, and they specialise in saving cats from sticky situations, and facilitating adoptions of strays.
When he arrived, the firefighter found scratches on the ledge and deduced that the trembling cat had probably “almost fallen to its death”.
He urged onlookers to keep quiet so the cat could calm down and get used to his voice. With the help of the building’s residents, they extended a net out of the window from the floor below.
The rescuer then slowly lowered a rope and tightened it around the cat’s abdomen. He lifted the terrified cat to safety and put it in a cage.
Netizens commended the cat firefighters for their service, with some saying that the cat “was lucky enough to meet the right people that day”.
In an even more wholesome turn of events, the cat firefighters posted an update to share that it has since been adopted by the woman who called for its rescue.
The new owner also shared pictures of the cat, revealing that though it is still skittish and wary of humans, she’s working hard at forming a bond with it.
“I believe it won’t take long for the kitty to fully assimilate into its new home,” wrote the cat fireman.
Now how touching is that?
