When anyone mentions TVB hosts, Carol Cheng would probably be the first to come to mind.

After all, she has been with the broadcaster for a total of 38 years, and is the go-to host for many of the station's tentpole shows like The TVB Anniversary Awards and the Miss Hong Kong Pageant.

However, according to Hong Kong media, her contract with TVB is soon coming to an end, and Carol is not planning to renew it.

The reason? She wants to enjoy life.

After word got out that Carol is going to leave TVB, many artistes have expressed their sadness. They also hope the rumours are not true as Carol is a very caring and nurturing big sister to them.

Carol joined TVB in 1978, and has starred in many iconic dramas such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1979), The Brothers (1980) and The Feud of Two Brothers (1986).

She left TVB in 1987 to focus on her burgeoning movie career. She had also immigrated to Canada around that time.

In 1988, she won Best Actress at the Golden Horse Awards for her role as a nightclub hostess in Moon, Star and Sun. Three years later, she starred as a policewoman in the hit comedy Her Fatal Ways and was named Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards.

Carol returned to TVB in 1992.

In 2000, her career reached new heights again after starring in TVB long-form sitcom War of the Genders.

In 2002, she also starred in two seasons of Mediacorp English sitcom Oh Carol.

She then turned the focus of career to hosting for both TV and radio.

What an all-rounder, right?
