Carina Lau Reveals Why You'll Never See Superstars Like Chow Yun Fat & Jacky Cheung On Reality Shows

There will always be A-listers we’d love to see on reality shows, but they’d probably never agree to do one.

In a recent episode of Chinese variety show The Blooming Journey Season 2, Chinese actor Ke Chun confessed to Carina Lau that he finds "Hong Kong actors very, very distant".

When the 59-year-old Hong Kong screen goddess replied with a gentle yet concerned "Why?", Ke Chun explained: "We don't get to see them, like in reality shows."

That prompted Carina to divulge that it's true "some people will never come out" for shows like that.

"Jacky Cheung and Chow Yun Fat, I've helped productions teams to ask them a few times, but they will definitely not participate," she deadpanned. 

The reason? "They just want to focus on acting [and singing]."

What about her hubby Tony Leung then?

"If you asked my husband to join a reality show, he would be terrified. And it would certainly not be fun."

Everyone would be talking, while Tony, who is famously socially awkward, wouldn’t say a word, she posited.

"But his inner world is very rich. Through books and movies, his mind might be much broader than ours," added Carina.
