Calvin Chen, Joanne Tseng are married


After 11 years of denying dating rumours, celebrity couple Calvin Chen and Joanne Tseng have finally decided to go public with their relationship — after tying the knot.

Earlier this afternoon, Calvin and Joanne posted the same picture of the two of them together on their social media pages, sharing that they have gotten hitched.

“We’re married. We’ve known each other for so long that Mr Chen has seen me mature from a girl to a woman. From today onwards, I am Miss Tseng, and also Mrs Chen. There are so many people who love us and we thank you for your blessings. We will spend our lives well together as one, continuing to help each other to grow together. (We’re) starting a new page of life now,” Joanne’s caption read.

“Entering the next phase of my life. Although I’m a little late, but everyone lives at their own pace. We’re married and we’ll have more responsibilities from 2020. Thank you to all our friends and family who’ve accompanied us throughout this journey filled with laughter and tears. Thank you for being happy for us, and for your blessings. In the new year, I wish the best to everyone. Happy new year, and most importantly, (wishing for everyone) to be healthy,” Calvin wrote in his caption.

Joanne later shared that they decided to tie the knot after dating for over a decade. She also let on that they once gave their relationship a one-year break as they were too busy with their respective lives. However, they got back together later after they had both matured.

As they both intend to prioritise their work for the time being, a wedding banquet is not quite in the works yet.

When asked if Calvin had proposed to her, Joanne replied in the affirmative, and shared more details of the proposal.

“He proposed to me at his house, with many of our friends, as well as my best buddies in attendance. They all came out to surprise me after the proposal and it was a very touching moment,” the actress recounted. The couple is currently living in Calvin’s house together, and have no intentions to purchase an apartment together yet.

Calvin and Joanne was first rumoured to be dating in 2009, after they starred alongside each other in the drama, Love Buffet. In 2011, Joanne appeared to confirm their relationship in an interview. The actress admitted that she had cried for a month after breaking up with Calvin, implicitly confirming their relationship. Since then, although the couple had been spotted together on multiple occasions, they refused to confirm that they were dating, choosing to refer to each other as a “good friend” instead.
