If you’ve ever wondered how some fans are able to know exactly where their favourite celebrity will be even though the details were never made public, this could probably explain things.

Recently, Chinese broadcaster CCTV aired a report about “fen tou” (roughly translated as “head fans”) aka ardent devotees who take it upon themselves to boost the popularity — or at least the visibility — of any public figure they want by overseeing fan activities.

According to the report, these fen tou basically run their own armies of “ordinary” fans who are responsible for completing tasks such as taking photographs, compiling data, writing posts, and fighting back against hate or negative news about a star.
