Bowie Tsang Reveals Why Her Dad Eric Tsang Occasionally Uses A Wheelchair
And no, it's not because he's drunk.
Taiwanese variety show Let’s Go Home, which sees host Bowie Tsang following celebrities back to their respective hometowns, is back for a second season.
Recently, the 49-year-old attended a media event for the show, where she shared some anecdotes during filming.
This season features stars like Rhydian Vaughan and Joanne Tseng, and Bowie said she could relate to the actors as they shared stories of their childhood.
The experience also made her miss her dad, Hongkong star Eric Tsang, whom she has not seen in more than two years.
She's worried about her papa
Eric turned 69 on April 14 and Bowie revealed that she's a little sad that she could not celebrate with him in person.
"In addition to celebrating his birthday via video call, I wished him happy birthday via text message,” said Bowie.
"I am a little sad talking about this because I haven't seen him for a long time, and I am a little worried about him,” she added, choking up with emotion.
Why is Eric in a wheelchair?
In recent years, pics of Eric in a wheelchair have been circulating on the Internet. When asked about his health, Bowie replied with a laugh: "He’s probably in a wheelchair because he is drunk!”
Jokes aside, Bowie shared that Eric suffers from gout and that she witnessed how much pain he was in when it acted up when they were shooting reality show The Amazing Race China in 2015.
The attack left his foot swollen and he was wheelchair-bound for most of the trip. However, Bowie said Eric has been watching his diet and drinking less, and is in good health.
She wants him on her show
Although she would like to visit him in Hongkong, they are both busy with work and the pandemic isn’t helping.
"Sometimes I send him WeChat messages, but he doesn't always reply right away. He’s so busy that I don't even know when he can read my messages,” she said.
Bowie added that she hopes that the pandemic will be over soon so they can meet up.
And should there be another season of Let’s Go Home, she hopes to shoot with her dad in Hongkong so he can introduce her to all the good food and Cantonese cuisine.
“His appearance fee can be negotiated,” she laughed.
