Younger music fans these days would probably have never heard of Taiwanese folk singer Lee Ping-huei, but back in the ‘90s, he and his partner Chin Man-wang, who formed the duo Golden Gate King & Mr. Lee, made it big with their hit single ‘Odyssey’. They were the first blind singers to record an album in Taiwan and were even nominated for a Golden Melody Award in 1998.

Unfortunately, long-term success eluded them, especially after Man-wang died of a heart attack in 2002. In 2017, Ping-huei, now 71, obtained a street performing licence and now makes a living as a busker.
