Benjamin Yuen Reveals He’s Gotten Very Few Roles After TVB Management Reshuffle — “Those Who Used To Give Me Jobs All Left”

Sometimes, actors can only wait for jobs to come knocking on their doors. So what happens if they're not offered a role for a prolonged period of time? 

According to TVB actor Benjamin Yuen, there's really nothing much they can do. 

The 43-year-old was asked in a recent interview why he hasn't been seen on screen much in the past few years.

Benjamin only starred in two dramas in 2024, namely No Room For Crime and Forensic Heroes 6. Some even argue that he can at most be considered a supporting character in No Room For Crime. 

At his peak, the actor could film three dramas a year, on top of multiple variety shows. 

"It's the company's arrangement. There's nothing I can do, that's just the way my life is," he lamented.

The actor revealed that there was indeed a time when he was favoured by the broadcaster and thus received many roles. But that changed entirely after a management reshuffle in the company.

"After the executives were replaced and the entire system was changed, the people who used to give me jobs all left, so I had to start from scratch again," he said.

But of late, the company has been focusing on collaborations with mainland Chinese platforms, which has resulted in a drop in the number of shows produced every year. 

It's why Benjamin only gets to partake in one, or at most two, series a year now, causing his exposure to naturally decreased with that. 

The actor also divulged that he's not the only one in the company who's suffering from limited job opportunities and that many artistes are stuck in the same situation too.

Despite that, reports claim that Benjamin doesn't seem to have any plans of leaving TVB just yet. 

In the last installment of Forensic Heroes, which ended on a cliffhanger, it was alluded that the popular franchise will be back for a new season. 

It's also speculated that Forensic Heroes 7 will begin production at the end of this year if TVB manages to get sponsors in time, with Benjamin returning to reprise his role if that happens.
