Chinese entrepreneur Zhang Lan, who is the founder of upscale restaurant chain South Beauty Group and the mother of Barbie Hsu’s businessman husband Wang Xiaofei, has been a bit of a controversial figure in recent years. South Beauty Group, by the way, was the only Chinese cuisine caterer at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, so one can say that they were a pretty big deal.
However, in 2015, Zhang Lan was kicked out of her own company after being involved in a messy legal dispute with private equity firm CVC Capital Partners. She was also sentenced to jail for failing to comply with court orders to declare all her assets, but it looks like the 62-year-old managed to avoid doing time behind bars.
