This Auntie From Rural China Has Been Called The Country’s Top Rapper After Covering A$AP Ferg’s 'Plain Jane'

Honestly, we weren’t sure what we were gonna get when we first saw the thumbnail of a video of Zhang Tiegang, a woman from rural Liaoning in China, with a caption declaring her the best rapper in China.
After all, she looked just like any other unassuming auntie. But well, just watch the video, and you’ll totally get it.
Tiegang went viral in China after posting this short 18-second video of her rapping along to American rapper A$AP Ferg’s 2017 song 'Plain Jane'. The video has since garnered 3.3 million views on Douyin.
Her ability to sound like she's rapping in fluent English, coupled with her impeccable sense of rhythm and swagger, marks a stark contrast to her looks and the countryside view behind her.
And of course, netizens loved it.
"A tractor on the outside, [but] a Ferrari on the inside,” one netizen gushed, while another wrote: “My gosh, this is simply too impressive.”
Oh, and she’s not just a rapper.
Tiegang has also posted videos of her covering songs like Taylor Swift’s 'Love Story', Lizzo's 'About Damn Time' as well as the TikTok-viral hit, 'ABCDEFU' by Gayle. Talk about trendy.
According to reports, Tiegang started a Douyin account for her grandmother, who sometimes pops up in her videos too.
Netizens have shared that Tiegang actually graduated from a music college in Liaoning, and used to perform as a singer at bars.
In early 2020, she began uploading videos on Douyin, and now entertains millions of netizen (she has 1.8 million followers) with her rap covers.
