Angie Chiu Goes Skateboarding For Photoshoot; Fans Caution The 67-Year-Old To Be More Careful
Some even criticised Angie’s manager for allowing “an oldie who’s pushing 70 skateboard without the appropriate gear.
First basketball, now skateboarding. Veteran Hong Kong star Angie Chiu, 67, is taking on all kinds of sports, all while looking absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. But now, it seems like some of her fans have a bone to pick with the actress’s management.
Back in August, Angie posted a series of photos of her skateboarding for the first time on her Weibo.
In the pictures, Angie is dressed simply, with no protective gear on, which some fans weren’t too happy about. The star was also wearing shorts that left her legs exposed to the elements, increasing the possibility of getting injured if she were to fall. Some also noted that the shoes Angie wore aren’t suited for skateboarding, as the soles were thick and had an irregular shape.
After all, skateboarding isn’t exactly a low-risk sport. Local singer Taufik Batisah, 40, who is quite the skateboarder himself, broke his elbow last year while skateboarding.
And for further comparison, here’s a pic of Hong Kong star Tony Leung, 60, who’s clearly an experienced skateboarder, cruising about in long sleeves and pants on his 58th birthday.
We also have Ah Jie and fellow skateboarding beginner, Zoe Tay, 54, decked out in full protective gear.
Therefore, it made sense that some fans were worried about Angie potentially injuring herself.
Addressing Angie’s manager, one fan wrote: “The manager actually let an oldie who’s pushing 70, with no skateboarding experience, skateboard with such thick-soled shoes on”.
Another criticised Angie’s team for taking no precautions when it came to ensuring Angie’s safety, choosing to forgo the necessary protective gear just for some photos.
"At this age, it’s a little dangerous, no?” one fan asked.
