Angelababy Wins Court Case Against Hospital For Using Pics Of Her Before She Wore Braces To Promote Their Services
The hospital has been ordered to make a public apology, and to pay the star S$7K in damages.
Remember the time Angelababy, 33, got her face examined for cosmetic enhancement, just to prove she didn't surgically alter her looks?
Or the time she won a lawsuit against a netizen for accusing her of undergoing multiple plastic surgeries?
Well, despite her efforts, old photos of Angelababy are almost guaranteed to spark a new wave of cosmetic surgery rumours.
Which would explain why she decided to file a court case against one Beijing hospital (北京合众京洲医院) for using pics of her before she fixed her teeth with braces to promote their services.
Pics Angelababy pre-braces have been circulating on Chinese social media sites for years and have achieved iconic status because of how different the actress look in them.
Angelababy’s looks were famously “upgraded” after she straightened out her teeth though many still believe that she did more than that.
According to Chinese media, the details of the dispute between Angelababy and the hospital were recently released, with the star claiming the rights to the distribution of her photos.
Angelababy asserted that the hospital did not seek her permission before using her photos to promote their services online.
They allegedly used 36 of her old pics, attaching them to their advertising materials, and were accused of using her influence and fame to garner attention and promote their brand. As a result, they breached the rights to Angelababy’s image.
The court ruled the case in Angelababy’s favour, stating that the hospital had indeed breached proper business conduct by using her pictures without her consent.
The hospital was ordered to make a public apology to the star on a WeChat public account and to pay her S$7K in damages.
