Just ask this netizen, who recently had a chance encounter with former Malaysian model Carol Chu, better known as the wife of Andy Lau, at a supermarket in Hong Kong.

According to the netizen, Carol was spotted at a supermarket dressed in a loose white top, black wide-leg pants and white sneakers. She was also carrying a tote bag from French luxury brand Goyard.

Carol and Andy secretly registered their marriage in Las Vegas in 2008 after a highly discreet, decades-long relationship. They share one daughter, Hanna Lau, who was born in 2012.

The couple are notoriously private and have kept their family life firmly out of the spotlight, with Carol only making the occasional public appearance.

This time, she was accompanied by a domestic helper and was leisurely shopping for household necessities. She was seen carefully examining products, holding them with both hands while reading the labels.

The netizen revealed that she did not recognise Carol at first because of how down-to-earth she appeared.

It was only after taking a closer look that she realised she was looking at the Heavenly King's missus. She then went on to praise Carol for how well she has maintained her looks over the years.

Instead, they were surprised to see Carol personally selecting fresh fruit at the supermarket.

"I'm really impressed. She dresses modestly and doesn't show off. Despite being so wealthy, she still comes to the supermarket to shop for things herself. She lives even more low-key than ordinary people like us."
