Andy Lau’s Wife & Daughter Cause Media Frenzy At Dad’s Wake
The funeral for Andy's dad will be held today (Dec 6).
The wake for Heavenly King Andy Lau’s dad Lau Li was held at Hong Kong Funeral Home yesterday (Dec 5). Lau Li passed away in the company of family on Nov 20. He was 97.
A media scrum greeted Andy’s wife, former Malaysian beauty queen Carol Chu, 57, and their 11-year-old daughter, Hanna, when they arrived at the wake after 2pm.
When mother and daughter exited their vehicle, Andy came out of the funeral home to escort them in.
The family, all wearing masks, were closely followed by bodyguards. They held hands and did not speak to reporters as they made their way in.
The media noted that Hanna, who wore her hair down, looked more mature. She also appeared to have grown a lot taller, and is now up until her dad’s shoulders.
While waiting in the lobby for the elevator, the famously protective Andy tried to shield his family from the cameras and did not respond to requests for a family photo.
It was only when the elevator arrived that Andy turned towards the media, pressing his hands together in gratitude.
The wake was open to family, friends, as well as fans from Andy’s fan club to pay their respects.
Hong Kong media reported seeing flower wreaths from celebs, including fellow Heavenly King Aaron Kwok, as well as Nicholas Tse, Joey Yung, Richie Ren, Hacken Lee, Wu Fung, Sandra Ng and Peter Chan.
The funeral will be held at noon today (Dec 6), followed by the cremation.
