Andy Lau Showed Why He's The Nicest, Humblest Star Ever At The 2018 Golden Horse Awards
As if you needed more reason to like Andy Lau.
There was so much, some say, too much controversy at the recent Golden Horse Awards, you know, like Gong Li’s glum-faced refusal to present the Best Feature Film award which left her co-presenter auteur Ang Lee stranded and looking awkward on stage. Then there were the controversial political comments made by winners from both sides of the Taiwan Strait. Documentarian Fu Yue, who won Best Documentary, expressed hope for Taiwanese independence while last year’s Best Actor winner Tu Men said he was honoured to present an award in “China, Taiwan”. The quips divided the ceremony and sparked online fury, which reportedly led to Chinese stars, like Hu Ge and Sun Li, boycotting the post-awards party.
But it wasn’t all scandal and bad news. One person rose above all the negativity and showed what it truly means to be a star. And of course it was Andy Lau.
