Andy Lau Reportedly Sued For S$21mil By Chinese Director For Allegedly Plagiarising His Scripts

The director added that this is not the first time Andy has copied his work. He claims that he met the Heavenly King in 2007 to discuss a movie script.

Talks fell through a year later because Yusheng was going through a family tragedy — many of his relatives had died in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake and he had to arrange for their funerals.

However, Yusheng claims he saw many plot points from his script used in 2015 movie Our Times, of which Andy was an investor.

Yusheng has since filed a suit at the Beijing Intellectual Property Court and is suing Andy for 99.9mil yuan (S$21mil).

In response, Universe Films, which distributed The White Storm 2: Drug Lords, has issued a statement denying Yusheng’s claims.

They shared that the movie is an original piece of work and has not infringed copyrights of any third party. The firm added that while they have yet to receive any official notice from the courts, they have engaged lawyers to handle the matter.
