In an industry that prizes youth it’s a rather senior Andy Lau who rules the box office. The Heavenly King is 59 turning 60 this year and showing no signs of slowing down or ceding his throne to a younger showbiz upstart.

Andy appeared in three movies in the past year, all of them instant hits, raking in a combined total of NT$7.4bil (S$350mil). And that’s not even including the currently showing Detective Chinatown 3, in which Andy guest-starred and for which he sang the theme song.
