Andy Hui Gets A Cake That Looks Like A Bible For His 55th Birthday

His wife Sammi Cheng can be heard raving about how realistic it looks.

Stephen Fung wasn’t the only Hong Kong star who celebrated his birthday last week.

Singer-actor Andy Hui, who turned 55 on August 12, took to Instagram to share images from his birthday bash where he was surprised with a cake that looks like a bible.

Wonderful cake, so meaningful,” he wrote in the caption.

Andy also shared a video of himself cutting the cake.

Though the cake, which was made to look like a black bible with a gold cross on it, was not as fancy as some of the OTT bakes other stars marked their birthdays with, it was no less impressive.

The bible cake sported a very realistic fondant cover that looked like pebbled leather. Check out the shine and texture.

It was so true-to-life that Andy's wife, Cantopop diva Sammi Cheng, could be heard remarking how "leathery” and “cool” it looks.

The devil is in the details

While it is not known who gave him the cake, Sammi is known to be a staunch Christian and was the one who encouraged Andy to embrace the religion.

It would be interesting to see how the couple celebrate Sammi’s 50th birthday this Friday (Aug 19).

Fans and celeb pals like Alex Fong and Louis Cheung flooded Andy's socials to wish him a happy birthday. He later posted a reply thanking everyone for their birthday blessings.

"I don't know how to thank each one of you individually, so I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes here," he wrote.

Working on a new album?

It was back to work for Andy the next day. He posted a snap of a recording console in a studio, hinting that he was working on new music.

His last album was 2017's 18 Oz.

Andy’s career came to a grinding halt following his cheating scandal with actress Jacqueline Wong in 2019.

The singer, who signed on with record label Universal Music this year, made a brief comeback when he performed on music show Chill Club in June 2020. He is also set to appear in Taiwanese series Mr Hito which revolves around the music industry.
