The TVB  Anniversary Gala is a chance for fans to catch a glimpse of their favourite Hong Kong stars all glammed up and gathered together.

And that's exactly what they got this year, well, except for Chinese fans of TVB actress Ali Lee, 40.

She did appear though, they just couldn't see her.

Ruco and Ali both looked so good though

That night, Ali walked the red carpet in a gorgeous eye-catching purple dress. And with her was Ruco Chan who wore a classic black and white suit.

Sadly, fans who were watching the ceremony on live stream via TVB's official Weibo account and Mai Dui Dui app did not get to see any of that.

Instead, when it was the pair's turn on the red carpet, the live stream suddenly switched to a promotional video of TVB's upcoming dramas.

Initially, many netizens thought that there was something wrong with the live stream, but they later found out that Ali's part had been removed.

Some netizens also searched for 'Ali Lee' on Chinese search engines, but the results showed: "The content you're looking for is not legal and cannot be submitted."

The live stream eventually resumed after Ali was done walking the red carpet.

Can you spot Ali?

And it wasn't just the live stream that got affected.

When the ceremony was broadcast in China, the actress' face was blurred out when the camera panned to her onscreen.

This lends credence to rumours that Ali has been cancelled by China after she expressed her pro-Hong Kong democracy views back in 2019.
