Alex To’s Father-In-Law, Who Is 4 Years Older Than The 60-Year-Old Singer, Was Against Alex Marrying His Daughter

Hong Kong singer Alex To, 60, has seen his popularity surge again since competing in the second season of popular Chinese talent show Call Me By Fire.

Best known for hits like ‘Lover’ and the earworm ‘Tuo Diao’, Alex and his youthful looks became a trending topic on Weibo after he pranced around singing ‘Happy Happy Searching’ on the show .

Netizens marvelled at how energetic he was and how he hasn’t aged since the song was released in the 1992.

His relationship with his wife, filmmaker Ice Lee, 36, has also come under the spotlight.

Alex and Ice are known for being a very loving couple.

They met through work and Ice later became Alex’s personal photographer. The couple tied the knot in 2012 after dating for five years and have a six-year-old son, Alex Junior.

Alex previously shared that Ice, who was by his side when his parents passed away, is his rock. Alex's mum is legendary singer Zhang Lu and his dad is Filipino singer Ollie Delfino.

“Without her, I really wouldn't know how to live on!" he said.

However, things weren't always smooth sailing for them.

Unlike Aaron Kwok's father-in-law, who was a fan of the Heavenly King and grew up listening to his songs, Ice's dad, who is just four years older than Alex, was initially not in favour of the singer marrying his daughter due to their 24-year age gap.

Alex previously shared that his first meet-the-parents session was an “unforgettable” and nerve-racking one.

Though his mother-in-law, who is a year younger than him, was easy going, his father-in-law was very stern. Alex later said he was so nervous, he “sweated until [his] underwear was soaked”.

However, he later moved them with his sincerity, and their relationship got better after that.
