Fu zichun leukemia complications dies

The sudden death of Taiwanese actor Fu Zichun, also known as Jun Fu, has left fans and the entertainment industry in shock.

The 46-year-old star, known for dramas such as Rookie's Diary (2010), reportedly lost consciousness and stopped breathing at his home in Tamsui on June 7 after developing symptoms linked to acute leukemia.

He was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment but could not be revived.

His management company later revealed that the diagnosis of acute leukemia was only mentioned by doctors during emergency treatment.

What's particularly unsettling is that those around Zichun apparently had no idea he was seriously ill.

According to his management company, Phoenix Talent, Zichun had appeared noticeably thinner in recent months. However, those close to him attributed the weight loss to grief following his mother's passing.

It also remains unclear whether Zichun himself knew he was suffering from the illness.

Following his death, Taiwanese respiratory and critical care physician Su Yi-feng weighed in on the case, suggesting that Zichun may have suffered complications related to acute leukemia.

According to Dr Su, common symptoms of acute leukemia include fever, persistent fatigue, dizziness and shortness of breath. He also noted that the disease can also make the blood more prone to clotting, potentially increasing the risk of serious complications.

Zichun had recently returned from a holiday in Bali before his condition reportedly deteriorated rapidly.

Over a career spanning more than two decades, Zichun became a familiar face on Taiwanese television. His military background also led to him being cast in several military-themed productions.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married in 2018.

Zichun was best known for his role in 2010 drama Rookies' Diary.
