52-Year-Old Gong Li Looks Super Fab Even Without Make-Up
We want what she’s having.
If you are from a certain era, you would remember Gong Li, 52, as a fresh-faced ingénue in the 1987 Chinese flick Red Sorghum. Fast forward to 2018, and it’s like the woman never aged. Proof: Hongkong star Donnie Yen recently posted a photo of himself with a bare-faced Gong Li on Weibo. “Happy to be working with the beautiful, classy goddess of all film goddesses for the first time!” he gushed in the caption.
Work buddies
Donnie and Gong Li are starring in Disney’s highly-anticipated live-action remake of Mulan, where Donnie is playing Mulan’s mentor and Gong Li a, erm, witch. Gong Li was last seen on the big screen as the White Bone Demon in the 2016 action-fantasy flick The Monkey King 2. Despite not wearing any make-up in the photo with Donnie, the screen siren sported a luminous complexion with hardly any wrinkles or blemishes. Donnie ain’t looking too shabby himself, but netizens praised Gong Li’s “girlish charm”. Poor Donnie.
Fountain of youth
You might be thinking, Donnie probably Meitu Xiuxiu-ed the heck out of that photo. But recent paparazzi photos of Gong Li with her boyfriend show that the veteran star is really that youthful in real life (and we all know the paps are not known for their flattering angles).

Earlier this year, she was secretly snapped canoodling with French musician Jean-Michel Jarre on the streets of Paris, looking and dressing like a woman half her age.
Old my darling
Gong Li started dating Jean-Michel (who’s 18 years her senior and is dubbed the ‘Godfather of Electronic Music’ in France) after she divorced Singaporean tobacco tycoon Ooi Hoe Seong in 2010.
Mum or sister?
When photographed next to her grown-up son Mamoru Yoki Chung Li (from her marriage to Ooi), Gong Li looked more like the chap’s elder sister. Maybe she exchanged anti-ageing tips with fellow impossibly-young-looking stars Vivian Chow, Joey Wong and Rosamund Kwan?
